The Top 11 met super fans across the Country.  Also, the show visited numerous of fan viewing parties, some of them based in the artists’ hometowns. The first artist to perform on Monday night was Chicago vocalist Katie Kadan from Team Legend.

KATIE KADAN (Team Legend)

Kaite Kadan fans call themselves “Kadanators.”   She said people all over the world have been messaging her.  She’s being called the best kept secret in Chicago.  Katie said ten years ago she couldn’t see past her insecurities.  John said Katie has the power and the range to do so many great things. The fans wanted to hear her sing a powerful ballad, said John Legend.  “A big part of being an artist isn’t about singing, but about how you present the song, ” said John. He added that it would be cool for Katie to do a classic and knock their socks off.

Kelly said that’s how that song should be sang.  “Everybody loves this song yet doing your own thing is “mind blowing.”  John said delivering it with such nuance, grace and control, “it was incredible” and he pitied anyone who had to sing after her. That would be Team Blake’s Kat Hammock.

KAT HAMMOCK (Team Blake)

Blake said it scares him to work with her because she’s so important.  “People buy into who you are” Blake told Kat which proves that she’s doing what she’s meant to do.  He compared her to Bob Dylan or Taylor Swift.  No one sounds like her.  She got a traditional song.  Blake created a new version of the song for her.  Blake predicted she would have the highest charting performance this week.  Kat sang “I’ll Fly Away.”

Gwen reacted that after Katie’s performance, she was wondering what’s going to happen to Kat.  But she was so original and her voice is “so mesmerizing” like a “pixie princess.”  Gwen told her she’s a big fan.  Blake said each week, more people are falling in love with her. He said she’s unique and a gift to the show.  Blake complimented Kat by stating, that performance “was magic sis.”

SHANE Q (Team Kelly)

Kelly brought her Team to the set of The Kelly Clarkson show to rehearse.  The fans picked “Mercy” by Shawn Mendes for Shane Q.  They most likely saw his video singing that song and loved his version of the song.  Kelly told Shane that he doesn’t realize what a powerful singer he is.  Shane said America voting him through last week gave him the confidence that he needed.

John said he felt that Shane was really confident and has “swag and was sensual,”  best performance so far.  Kelly told Shane that he’s so gifted and she’s “so happy” that he trusted her.  She told him he has a passion and fire that’s waiting to get out.

JOANA MARTINEZ (Team Gwen)

Joana, now 16-years-old, went with Team Gwen to the “Whiskey A Go Go” in Hollywood to rehearse this week’s songs.  Gwen told her Team that, that’s where she started.  Joana got fan song pick “Dreaming of You” by Selena.  Gwen advised Joana to handle the song with “that same confidence” and the people that love her, can relate to her personally.  Gloria Estefan reached-out to Joana after her performance of her song last week.  Gloria told Joana that she’s proud of her and to keep doing what she’s doing.  Fans were at the Miami viewing party at Joana’s high school.

Blake said he can’t think of a dumber decision he’s made on the show than for letting her go and thinks she’s “coming into her moment” on the show.  Gwen said Joana was perfection tonight and stated that maybe Blake gave her Joana as a present.  Blake denied that. Gwen continued, stating that Joana can sing low notes so confidently and was “shocked and blown-away” by Joana tonight.

WILL BREMAN (Team Legend)

Fans said Will is inspiring so many people to be themselves and to “chase their dreams.”  Will brought his dog Oscar the pug to meet his coach John Legend since it’s fan week.  Will said he’s happy that he can be that influence that he needed as a kid with Asperger’s syndrome.  “Light My Fire” by the Doors was Will’s fan song.  He did it in the style of Jose Feliciano version.  John said he loves Will because he’s a real musician’s musician.  John thinks his Team will survive again this week especially with Will’s performance.

Blake responded to Will’s performance that he’s been a member of the Blue Crew since the beginning and has never been crazy about that song “until now!” John said he is an honored member of the Blue Crew because every week Will impresses him with his musicality and every week is “inventive.”

ROSE SHORT (Team Gwen)

Rose received messages of encouragement from co-workers at her former job at the corrections office. Rose got the song “Maybe I’m Amazed” by Paul McCartney. Gwen said it’s great that the fans are that confident that Rose can do this song justice.

Kelly reacted that Rose’s performance had “such great dynamics.”  Gwen responded that she was so moved by Rose tonight and when she came down the stairs, “it was so you.” Gwen said she couldn’t find the words to describe.  It was mesmerizing and incredible.  “I’m honored to know you right now.”

HELLO SUNDAY (Team Kelly)

Kelly advised Hello Sunday to be present and in the moment.    She said the cool thing is that they get to see what the fans are thinking about them.  Hello Sunday calls their fans “The Weekend.” Hello Sunday sang “The Middle” by Zedd, Maren Morris, and Grey.  Kelly said she really wants to see what they’re going to be like as artists.

Blake said before the show he had to do press, which is his least favorite thing, he got asked about Hello Sunday with Kelly, and couldn’t brag about them enough.  There’s no way to not talk about their age because they’re so talented.  Kelly responded that she hates bringing the age up too , but they sing like women, and have fun like 14-year-olds.  She called them an “anomaly.”

MYRACLE HOLLOWAY (Team Gwen)

Gwen said at the time when she performed at the Whiskey A Go Go she was practicing twice per week with No Doubt and still lived with her parents.  Myracle was given the song  “Everybody Hurts” by R.E.M.  Gwen said Myracle singing this classic alternative song will “be very special.”  Myracle said her fan response is “powerful” to her and she won’t let the fans down.  Gwen advised Myracle to “go back to the original melody.” Myracle got emotional and stated that when she sings that song, she can visualize someone giving-up.

John said he was so moved watching Myracle’s pre-package video that showed all the people affected by her.   He added, “It shows you how powerful music can be…you living your story and singing your story…it’s really a beautiful powerful thing” and so happy she’s there.  Gwen said she was talking about Myracle earlier to press and Myracle just seizes the moment.   Gwen said after their rehearsal at the Whiskey and seeing how far she came…”thank you for listening to me and trusting me” Gwen finished.

MARYBETH BYRD (Team Legend)

Marybeth said she’s so proud to be from a small town because small town love is like no other.  People in her town have put up signs for her in their yards and digital billboards.  Her friends dressed like her and John Legend.  Her fans are called “The Byrd Watchers” who selected “Stars” song.  Marybeth said the song reminds her of being home sick.  She said being on “The Voice” is the first time she’s been away from home so long which makes her home sick.  John said someone like Marybeth who comes from a small town can be seen across the world, “It’s really a beautiful thing.”  He called her “pretty flexible” in the songs that she can sound good doing and thinks the fans picked a great song.  Marybeth’s mom was at the fan viewing party to introduce her daughter’s ‘Voice Top 11 performance.

Kelly called it a great song choice for Marybeth and she “just soared” on that song and called it a “smart pick.”  John thanked the fans for picking it because it was right in her vocal pocket and she sounded “so magical.”  John said her voice gave us power, clarity, beautiful high notes and called it her “best performance.”

JAKE HOOT (Team Kelly)

Kelly told her Team to “say yes” when you’re challenged, “challenge yourself.”  She said she’d never thought she’d be doing a talk show because she used to get in trouble for talking in school.  Jake’s fans are called “the Hooters.”  Kelly asked if the restaurant chain Hooters have reached-out to him.  He answered “yes they have!”  Jake got to sing the National Anthem in his hometown.  Kelly told him that “America is falling in love” with him.  The song fans picked was “Every Light in the House” by Trace Adkins.  He said it’s exciting because it’s a classic Country song, and also terrifying because of the pressure.  During rehearsals, Kelly called Jake a star.

The audience cheered “Hoot, hoot!”  Gwen said Trace Adkins is actually her “homie” and she knows that song and hangs with him a lot. She called Jake a diamond in the rough and his voice is beautiful and powerful.  Kelly said “every time he opens his mouth to sing she’s reminded of every “awesome part” of her childhood and he sounds like he has a microphone in his throat.  She called Jake “a great human as well.”

RICKY DURAN (Team Blake)

“Everyone loves Ricky” Blake said.  His hometown put up a billboard of him and named a drink after him.  His fans chose “Downtown Train” by Rod Stewart. It shows what people think he’s capable of.  Blake compared Ricky to John Mellencamp and Bruce Springsteen because he has that working class feel to him that people can relate to.  Blake advised Ricky to “milk those moments” and the reason the fans gave him that song is because they know he can nail it.  Told him not to disappoint.  Blake gave Ricky his guitar to play in the performance.  His fans called Ricky “the total package” with the voice, the style, and the stage presence.

John said he sometimes forgets that Ricky is a contestant because it feels like he’s past that and because of the level of polish and stage presence he has.  He looks like he should be up there coaching too.  Blake said when he says everyone loves Ricky, it’s not just fans, it’s also people in the business that are reaching out to him as well.  Blake said because of life reasons, it’s taken Ricky a minute to finally get his moment, but he’s finally having his moment right now.

Gwen said she’s so honored to have Myracle on her team and the way she connects.  “We all have pain” and to get through these incredible moments on the show.  She said in rehearsal, she was intimidated and thought “how do I help someone who’s perfect?”   Gwen told her last night she was absolutely flawless and called her “magic.”
