The current film Star Trek Beyond opens in theaters, Friday, July 22, 2016. Director Justin Lin stated in a new featurette released by Paramount Pictures that he wasn’t “seeking” to direct Star Trek, but realized how much the franchise has been a part of his life as a child. Lin stated producer, and previous director J.J. Abrams advised Lin to “just be bold, make it yours.” Lin said with every frame of the film, he tried to take that to heart.
