When one thinks about lip syncing, an image of Ashley Simpson’s SNL fail might immediately pop into your head! Lip syncing is often correlated with a singer who was able to sell millions of records due to auto-tune, because they lack real talent, but Spike’s upcoming show “Lip Sync Battle” will give the phrase a whole new meaning! The show will feature LL Cool J as the host, and Chrissy Teigen will be featured in every episode commenting about what she thinks of each performance.

Hollywood Junket was able to sit in on a few episodes, therefore we wanted to share our thoughts on what we think about this upcoming show. We were able to see two awesome A-listers compete. Who were they? Anne Hathaway and Emily Blunt. Both of them did an excellent job performing; it was interesting to see them perform hip-hop, and play dress up. Blunt came onto the stage dressed as a hippie for one of her performances, and Hathaway released her inner Miley Cyrus when she performed the singer’s hit single, “Wrecking Ball”.

The winner takes home a trophy. They have two rounds to get through where each celebrity performs and then after the second performance, the audience decides who wins. They decide by cheering. Host LL Cool J asks the audience (for example) who do you like – A) Iggy, or B) Nick. The celebrity who gets the most audience cheers wins.

Iggy Azalea also made an appearance on the show when she competed against her boyfriend, Nick Young. Azalea is quite entertaining, and incredibly funny, she really let loose and was able to get the audience to laugh when she performed a K-Ci & JoJo song. She wore a red leather jacket, and started grinding on the stage. Nick Young was also quite comedic when he performed Maroon 5’s latest hit, Sugar. The twosome are quite adorable, and it was fun to see them playfully bicker. You can tell they really like one another, and their relationship is not a typical Hollywood public relations stunt.

“Lip Sync Battle” will be a show that will probably gain a huge following, because it will feature huge celebrities such as JLo, Justin Bieber, Iggy Azaela, Anne Hathaway, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Queen Latifah and Jimmy Fallon. The show is based off Jimmy Fallon’s celebrity lip sync which has been seen on his show. It has the ability to attract a wide demographic, because it features younger celebrities, and those who have been famous for a long time. The song choices also vary from 90’s grunge, to old school hip hop and modern pop.

“Lip Sync Battle” premieres on Spike TV Thursday, April 2, 2015. “The Devil Wears Prada” reunion between Emily Blunt and Anne Hathaway will air in the April 9 episode. According to Executive Producer of the show, Casey Patterson, their battle is one for the ages. “They’re best friends, and the competitiveness between the two of them was ridiculous.” Watch Iggy on “Lip Sync Battle” below:
