GSN officially announced today the new host of “The Newlywed Game” as Sherri Shepherd, co-host of “The View” and has her own sitcom called “Sherri”.
Shepherd resides in New York. This may be the main reason why GSN has decided to move production of the show’s fourth season of “The Newlywed Game” back to New York where it fist came back with Carnie Wilson as the host. Season two and three were both shot in Los Angeles.
How well will she do compared to previous host, Wilson? That has yet to be seen. Both women, Shepherd age 43, and Wilson age 42, have extreme opposite life experiences which may be a good thing. Wilson is married with two young children. Shepherd has recently divorced with one child and has publicly announced that she will be celibate until she marries again. Shepherd’s sitcom, “Sherri” is based on her own true-life divorce experience after discovering her husband’s infidelities. This might be just the fuel that “The Newlywed Game” needs to turn it into a mega-hit for the network. I have never thought Wilson as the best host for the show, often thinking that there’s just something missing.
Shepherd is known for her controversial statements made on “The View” over religion and evolution. This may parlay over into “The Newlywed Game” where there will be many opportunities for her to be vocal on a whole other scale of topics.
I will be waiting to see if Shepherd will be able to top Wilson’s many edited-out vulgarities. Such as an incident when during filming last season, Wilson out-lashed on one of the husbands who was verbally abusive to his wife on the show. Wilson exclaimed that if she was his wife, she wouldn’t suck his d@!$ for a year! Yes, she really said it.

Sorry to see Carnie go I just loved her. I like Sherrie to but I think Carnie is the best for the show.
Really sick and tired of the view women, I won’t be watching anymore.
I’m sorry to see Carnie is gone. I don’t care for Sherri hosting at all. Even though I thought Carnie “dug” alittle to deep sometimes, I think she was better at hosting the show. And I agree w/the previous comment, so sick of “The View” women.
LOVED Carnie as the host! HATE Sherie Shepherd as the new host! As the previous comments stated, “The View” women seem to be taking over everything, but suited for nothing. Shepherd is too into herself and doesn’t have the sense of humor Carnie displayed with the couples. So what if Carnie had to be edited? She tells it like it is! She gave the show the right amount of spice. Shepherd gives the show a little snobbiness when it’s supposed to be entertaining.

Not even worth watching if Carnie doesnt host. Why cant the GSN big wigs leave well enough alone? I wont be tuning in anymore either.

Tried watching it with the new host, Sherri and had to switch. It was BORING. Enjoyed watching it with Carnie. Guess that’s one show that I won’t be watching anymore.
Neither me nor my fiance like Sherri on the Newlywed Game. We stopped watching it altogether. She isn’t funny and she seems very uncomfortable with the show’s naughty/racy themes. Carnie was a better fit. C’mon…bring back Bob Eubanks!!
Couldn’t stand Carnie, and am HAPPY she is GONE!!!! She wasn’t funny, and I found her to be quite obnoxious. Sherri, on the other hand, is GREAT. She brings humor to the show, and makes the show so much more enjoyable to watch.
Great move on the part of the network. Now the show stands a chance at survival!!!!!!
Will not watch unless Carnie comes back !!!!!!
