Top 8 Perform and Results Recap on THE VOICE Season 8

Monday’s episode of “The Voice” featured the first ever reunion show for the coaches. Shakira was the only coach missing in person, but sent a video message. Previous coaches Gwen Stefani, Usher, and Cee Lo Green returned to the show to help advise current coaches with their Top 8 contestants.  Cee Lo was chosen to help Blake Shelton, Usher was enlisted by Adam Levine, and Gwen had the double duty of contributing her input to both Team Christina and Team Pharrell.

Last week’s Results Show left Christina with two artists – Kimberly Nichole and India Carney.  Team Adam with only one artist – Joshua Davis.  Pharrell holding his own with Sawyer Fredericks and Koryn Hawthorne.   Blake was the only coach that kept all three of his team members – Meghan Linsey, Corey Kent White, and Hannah Kirby.  This automatically puts him at an advantage of possibly winning the competition once again!  Oh, what will Adam do?  It will soon have to be call Blake’s Voice, or maybe NBC will give him his own spin-off show.

Hannah Kirby sang “We Don’t Need Another Hero” by Tina Turner

Advised by Cee Lo, he said he would have stolen Hannah from Blake had he been on the show. Blake thinks that Cee Lo and Hannah are cut from the same cloth. Hannah wanted to put on a bigger show for this performance than she’s ever done. A kids choir joined her on stage with singing and dancing.

Pharrell was happy for her “waving the flag for everyone out there who’s different.” Adam remarked that it had Cee Lo written all over it and thought it was great. He expects to see her in the finale.

TEAM CHRISTINA

Kimberly Nichole sang “Creep” by Radiohead

Coaches Comments: The coaches gave her a standing ovation for a very powerful performance she delivered. Pharrell exclaimed “if that’s what insecurity sounds like, we could all use some!” Adam reacted that never before has there been a version of that song so unique and powerful. Blake couldn’t believe that she nailed it with only a few days of practice. Christina labeled Kimberly as “an artist” and what the competition is about by making the song her own.

India Carney sang “Over the Rainbow”

India recalled when she first sang the song at age 10 or 11 at summer camp. Christina said the song was made for her. Gwen recommended India to add personality to her performance and said she reminded her of Anita Baker.
