There’s a new competition reality game show that’s a mix of “Amazing Race,” “The Traitors,” and “The Circle” and it’s called “Destination X.”  On this show, a group of ten thrill-seekers arrive on a jet to crusade across Europe.  These players are mostly made-up of Gen Z’s and Millennials with a couple of Gen Xers sprinkled-in.

On day one of this game, previous Big Brother winner, Josh Martinez, is already carving-out his strategy.  Rick revealed in his confessional that he has a secret weapon…bird watching.  This permits him to know where he is by the type of birds that are present.

The “lover girl,” or Ally, is immediately smitten when the much older host, Jeffrey Dean Morgan from “The Walking Dead” fame, arrives to give the contestants the rundown of the game.

THE GAME PLAY:

Their playground is Europe.  Each week, these contestants will meet the host in a new location, or “Destination X” via a mega tour bus with all the windows blacked-out.  Along the way, they have to win challenges in order to get the clues that Morgan hands-out.  As long as they can correctly decode these clues that indicate where they are, they’ll remain in the game for a chance to win the grand prize at the end totaling $250,000.

In the first episode, the first player to reveal herself as shady, is Mack.  Because she admittedly is in it to deceive, and be cut throat to win it. So, Mack teamed-up with Ally for the first challenge which required them to collect luggage tags after answering some trivia.  Crazy enough, Ally took one of Rick’s tags that he had dropped on the ground.

When it was time to tally the total correct answers up from the tags, Mack and Ally won by one!  However, it really should have been a tie between them and Biggy who got six correct.  Because Ally and Mack cheated, one of those tags which belonged to Rick, should have not counted onto their final total.  But, it was!

After the contestants went back on their bus, Josh pointed-out to the other male players that that move was a “red flag.”  Rick labeled himself as the “dad” of the group that everyone likes.  The male players actually did say that the only way Ally could right her maneuver is if she shares the next clue with Rick. Rick was quick to go back and tell Ally this.  A very smart, strategy game play on Rick’s part!

Ally indeed followed-through and shared the first clue with Rick.  Josh noted that he was impressed by Rick’s game play.  The last challenge consisted of three rounds.

THE NEXT CHALLENGE:

The players were divided into two teams and the team captains (or “searchers”) were Mack and Biggy.  These team leaders were the only two to be out in the city to receive clues and gather coins, while the rest of the team members were contained down in a well.

These teams had to seek-out the proper coins to clues given in order for their captains to go and retrieve more clues and coins.  Yes, it’s exhausting!

The final and third round of this last challenge permitted the “searcher” to be the first to enter the clock tower and earn three coins.  If they won this round, they would also get to send three players from the opposing team into the map room, for possible elimination.

Maybe NOT Biggy Next Time!

Maybe NOT have Biggy participate in any more challenges where he has to find clues!  He was looking for tea when the answer was actually olive oil. Though he managed to score the coin, it was by chance.

The last round required Mack and Biggy to have some knowledge of Roman numerals.  Lucky for Mack, she observed the address on the building and noted that the last digit was a “4” and grabbed the two keys with the Roman numeral four.  She was correct and was the player to win the final round.

SPOILER….!!

While back on the bus, Mack and Biggy reconvened with their groups to tell them as much information and clues from what they saw on the outside as possible.  Most of the players figured their location as Rome, Italy.  However, two of them guessed Milan, Italy.  Those players were Josh and Rachel.  But, because Josh’s “X” was further away than Rachel, he was the one to be eliminated.

“Destination X” airs Tuesdays at 10 pm ET/ PT on NBC, after “America’s Got Talent.”
