Breakfast Club Celeb Relative on CLAIM TO FAME Season 3 Premiere Recap

Season three of “Claim to Fame” started out with very in-your-face examples of what life is like for two siblings, one who’s uber famous, and the other one.. not so much!  Hosts Kevin and Frankie Jonas brothers.

Landing at the same mansion that they used last season, viewers get a glimpse at the new batch of unknowns competing for a chance to win $100,000 by keeping their famous celebrity relative under wraps until the very end.

The first order of business which kept in the tradition of the show was that each of the eleven contestants had to share with their competitors three bits of information about their celebrity relatives.  Two truths, and one lie.

MIGUEL: The contestant who volunteered to go first was Miguel, one of the youngest.  Miguel said his relative is his grandfather, an actor who won an Oscar.   LIE: It’s not his grandfather.

Miguel is using a fake name to make people think that he’s more Spanish than he is.  Some of the contestants in the house are thinking his celeb relative is Antonio Banderas.

GRACIE LOU: Her celebrity relative is her Uncle, a musician who won an Emmy.  She wants people to believe that she comes from a Country music family.  “Gracie Lou” is a Country sounding name.  However, she doesn’t know a lot about Country.

DEDRICK: Dedrick said his relative won Best Rock Song of the Year on more than a few occasions.  His relative is his Uncle and a singer.  Dedrick said his celeb relative is “one of the most famous and iconic people in the world.”

It later comes up that Dedrick is possibly related to Michael Jackson.  If this is true, the lie would be the “Rock”genre.  Because Michael Jackson was known as “The King of Pop.”

DANNY: Danny said his relative is his Uncle who’s a wrestler and won a Grammy (??).   A lot of people think Danny looks like Jelly Roll.  Lol.

HUD: Hud said his relative is his mom, a singer who won a Grammy.  Jill thinks it is really Tom Cruise.

The show is keeping a lot of the contestants shrouded in mystery.  The show is NOT revealing who any of the celebrity relatives are, and also for a lot of the contestants viewers only got snippets.

JILL said it’s her grandfather.  ADAM, said his relative won a Grammy; NAOMI is there with a relative who won “Young Artist Award.”  KEEP READING to find out who Naomi’s relative is!!

BIANCA said her relative received the Peabody award.  The major problem with that was that no one knew what a Peabody Award was for!

MACKENZIE: Her father is a singer who won a Tony.  But, also revealed in her confessional that there’s nothing associated with Broadway in her family.  TRUE – her relative is a singer.  Maybe the lie is that it’s her father.

One of the more interesting guests in the house this season is SHANE, who showed-up wearing a fried chicken leg as a necklace.  He stated that his celeb relative is his cousin who’s an actor that won an Oscar.

Shane thinks that the competition will be easy.   He said his celebrity relative is an “icon in Hollywood.”  Shane, himself, has been trained in Theater and knows how to manipulate situations.

During early conversations with the other players, Shane told them that he has been to Graceland and Neverland.  This got Danny thinking that he’s related to Michael Jackson because no one can just get into Neverland Ranch.

***THIS SEASON – The Clue Wall is locked!!

The gang sure was surprised when they arrived at the mansion only to see that the Clue Wall was under lock-and-key!  That’s right, the Clue Wall is locked this season!

Multiple twists this season:

During the talent show portion this season, the contestants had to perform “three talent tests.”  Each one had to choose three props backstage to display their talent.  Another change-up in the talent show was that the contestants were judged by their fellow contestants!  The past two seasons they were judged by random outside audience members.

The contestant who ranked the highest in the talent show won safety from elimination and got to choose a clue about a competitor.

The two contestants with the lowest rankings were up for the vote to be the first guesser of the season.  If they guess incorrectly on a fellow contestant, they get eliminated.  If they guess correctly, the other contestant gets sent home.

THE TALENT:

Major Clue Dropped!

Adam was up first and his strategy was to do talents completely opposite from his celebrity relative in order to throw people off.  One good CLUE  is when Adam stated that he especially didn’t want to pick singing as a talent because he sounds just like his celebrity relative, and everyone would know who it is!

So, he chose hacky sack, acting, and playing drums.  He indeed threw people off.  Expect Adam to go far in the competition, especially after seeing who he got eliminated at the end!

Mackenzie stated that she does NOT share any talent with her celebrity relative, therefore she would not be singing.  She chose tap dancing.  Mackenzie looks like she could be related to the singer Jewel.

During a montage, we saw that one of Jill’s talents was magic; Dedrick was painting.  Bianca’s talents were not engaging the crowd as she twirled a streamer, then painted a heart with the letters “CTFI” above it.

Hud’s talent was jump roping, and boxing; Danny’s talents were sketching, karate, and stand-up comedy which wasn’t very funny.

Shane stated that “just like my celebrity relative, being on stage is easy for me.”  One of his talents was juggling, then doing the splits.

Miguel tried to recite a poem, without success because he couldn’t remember it.   Naomi did some hula hooping before deciding to choose to sing “Amazing Grace” for her third talent on a whim.  Naomi impressed the other contestants because she sounded really good.

Dedrick said Naomi “set a very high standard.”  Until it was time for Gracie Lou to reveal her talent, which was also singing!

To further convince everyone that her celebrity relative is musical, she sang and played guitar.  She sang a Country song while playing a guitar (that did it) and  won everyone over.

Gracie Lou won the talent competition.  Naomi was visibly irritated. Danny came to the conclusion that Gracie Lou is related to Reba McEntire! LOL.

THE BOTTOM TWO:

The bottom two who scored the lowest in the talent show were Miguel and Bianca.  Miguel immediately got worked-up and made it very known to everyone that he did not want to go home.

While Adam came to Miguel’s rescue with his strategy to befriend Miguel, Adam also revealed in his confessional a hint that his relative was very well-known in the 80’s and 90’s because Bianca, being from that same time frame would be able to figure him out!  Thus, he wanted her to be the guesser and hopefully go home.

After a lot of conversing amongst themselves while waiting for the Clue Wall to be unlocked, the house guests finally got to see the Clue Wall!

They quickly began to analyze the Clue Wall, and many spotted their own clues in the process.

Gracie Lou said the duck is her clue.  Lightning bolt is Adam’s clue.  He added that it is a dead giveaway!

Bianca managed to seed clues that she thinks add up to Shane being related to actor Forest Whitaker.  Funny, his name was brought up in the first season as well!

Miguel was increasingly stressed as the Clue Wall didn’t serve him well.  He was still at a loss as to knowing who anyone is in the house and proceeded to freak-out.

Miguel formed an alliance with Shane by promising to share any future clues with him.

WINNER’S CLUE:

Gracie Lou pulled the clue that she earned after winning the talent show.  She went for Naomi’s clue from the wine cellar clue room.

Gracie Lou said she considers Naomi a threat because she seems to have a lot of information.

Drum roll……..THE CLUE WAS:  brat pack princess to the breakfast club.  A clue that a Gen Xer would know, but not someone Gracie Lou’s age would.

Everyone at home must have been hoping she’d show this clue to Bianca, who for sure would know!  But, she did not!!

WHAT?  Her and Bianca are supposed “besties” too.

Bianca most likely would have figured out that Naomi is related to actress Molly Ringwald.  Instead, Gracie Lou told Miguel that she was holding the clue close to her heart.

THE VOTO BOOTH:

Before going to the Voto Booth, the contestants had Bianca convinced that she would not be in danger of getting voted as the Guesser.  Not, a safe assumption!

Once the players got inside the voto booth, the majority (by one vote) voted for Bianca who chose Shane as her target and guessed Forest Whitiker.  She was wrong and was eliminated.

Before being sent home, it was revealed that her celebrity relative is award winning journalist Robin Roberts.  In her reveal video, Roberts stated about Bianca, “you have been the star to our family all along ” – Auntie Robin.

Upon Exiting!

In her exit interview, Bianca stated that she “played it well, and I didn’t embarrass the family.”  Lol!  Bianca was most likely referring to last season’s first eliminated contestant, Tom Hanks’ niece who most definitely embarrassed her family when she yelled throughout the house after getting eliminated!

Major Reveal!

Pictured (l-r): Dedrick. Photo: Disney/Erica Hernandez; Michael Jackson

During the aftermath of the first elimination the next morning, the contestants were chatting during breakfast, when Dedrick slipped-up and said his last name, which is “Jackson”!

Naomi seemed to be the only one who caught wind of this slip-up and put two and two together, that the scarecrow clue on the Clue Wall must be from “The Whiz” which Michael Jackson played the Scarecrow in.

“Claim to Fame” airs every Wednesday at 9 pm PT/EDT on ABC network.
