HOLLYWOOD JUNKET’s EXCLUSIVE On Set Report! “Face Off: Season 3” Finale Already Shot! UPDATED July 6, 2012!.

Syfy network’s popular reality competition show for visual effects artists (VFX) “Face Off” will debut it’s third season this August. What viewers don’t know is that the show just recently finished filming the full third season, finale show and all with a surprise twist! For the first time in “Face Off” history, viewers will get to vote for this season’s winner!

About 400 audience members arrived to an industrial warehouse that was turned into a temporary theater near downtown Los Angeles for the season three finale where the three finalists revealed their finale two costumes each along with a stunt show.

Although the whole process took a few hours, only about five minutes of footage was filmed in front of the audience. While in the waiting area, audience members were warned by the stage manager that there would be pyrotechnics and loud explosions. Once inside the mock theater, and after a long wait, the three regular judges; professional VFX artists Glenn Hetrick, Ve Neill and Patrick Tatopoulos along with one guest judge came out to their seats to a thunderous applause. Host, McKenzie Westmore was also there. All of the contestants from the show took to their seats to watch the final reveal. Interestingly, the three finalists were never announced to the audience. Viewers will have to keep glued to “Face Off” when it airs starting in August to see who these final three are. The finale will have a Halloween theme and air on Halloween.

As season three kicks off, there are some fun challenges that viewers can look forward to coming-up that were revealed by “Face Off” host McKenzie Westmore in a video interview on the Syfy website. The reason why the show is so popular, Westmore says it may be because viewers get an “instant gratification”. She said “with Face Off you get to see instantly right then and there what was conceived and how it turned out” all within the one hour of the show.

Westmore also gave specific examples of some of the themes of challenges that season three contestants will have to paint and mold. They are: Super heroes, Bronson Caves, Chinese New Year, Day of the Dead, Cyborgs, Pirates of the Caribbean, and she stated “some fight club type stuff”. This doesn’t include the Foundation Challenges or the Spotlight Challenges that viewers can also look forward to.

This season’s contestants include the youngest- a 21-year-old Makeup Effects Artist, Alana Rose Schiro; C.C. Childs who is not only a Special FX makeup artist she also holds a degree in Criminal Justice and a Minor in Photography; Freelance Tatto Artist Derek Garcia who, growing-up, practiced monster makeup on his fraternal twin brother Eric Garcia who is also a contestant this season. Other contestants are: Jason Milani, Laura Tyler, Nicole Chilelli, Rod Maxwell, Roy Wooley, Sarah Elizabeth, and Tommy Pietch.
