October 31, 2024It’s week five of “The Floor” game show on FOX hosted by 80’s iconic actor Rob Lowe. Out of a beginning pool of 100 contestants on “The Floor,” this week, only 67 players remain. Lowe announced that by the end of this episode, eight players will go home. Kara, who has the biggest piece of the floor, said this is the only time that she doesn’t mind being called “a whale.”
Jake Bet Wrong!
It was down to business. Continuing from last week, contestant Jake had a very important decision to make. Will he challenge another player to a Duel, or remain on the floor. Jake chose to challenge the inherited category Ali has of “Constellations.” Starting out, Ali’s mind was already a “blank” as she openly stated.
Jake opted to hold on to his Time Boost and not use it in this particular Duel. Ali inherited the “Ancient Egypt” category after beating Jake at Constellations. After his disappointing loss, Jake said he was betting that on the monitors, pictures depicting the constellations would be shown rather than the actual constellations. Oh no, he was wrong!
Going For the Whale!
Next contestant Emily went for the whale without the Time Boost, who was Kara. The duel challenged “Compound Words.” Emily couldn’t get enough compound words correct, ran out of time. Kara inherited her category of “Musical Instruments.” She shared that she’s a classically trained pianist.
The other contestants scoffed, “of course she is!” Is there anything that Kara doesn’t know?! But, as much as she enjoys her time with host Rob Lowe, Kara stated, she decided to go back to the floor. Then, it was TIME for Ryan Alan! He was the contestant that the show’s A.I. randomly selected, called “the Randomizer” which chose to duel next.
Ryan’s love for baseball led him to choose Spiro to duel. Spiro said he learned baseball before he could speak English. So, he was well prepared to win this duel against Ryan. They had to correctly identify baseball logos (minor league and major league).
Ryan almost had it until the very end when he got off track and didn’t know three in a row. Spiro inherited “Cooking.” Spiro bragged that he comes from a great line of cooks and should be considered “dangerous” to the other players. He said “come get me” before heading back to the floor.
Grace, who had “Pop Stars” was chosen by the Randomizer. She chose to challenge Shakespeare since she knows about it and would like to inherit it. However, Grace chose Circus, held by Kelly who’s been doing Circus art for ten years.
One Second From Winning or Losing!
Grace kept her category of Pop Stars after winning her Duel against Kelly. She said although the show is called “The Floor,” it is in the duel space where you “win it.” Grace went for another duel. This time against Tommy who owned the category of “Ocean Animals.” It was super close! Soooo close when Grace won that Duel by literally one second. ONE SECOND!!
Grace continued on, and challenged the “Coming of Age” category held by Corey who said he came there to “take risks!” He revealed that he worked at a movie theater for six years. Corey missed “St Elmo’s Fire” out of all the movies. A movie that starred Rob Lowe! Lowe’s reaction was, “I quit!”
Grace fell short of two seconds! Corey won it by three seconds. It would have been Grace’s third Duel and she would have won the Time Boost. Instead, she went home and Corey inherited her category of “Pop Stars.” Corey stayed up at the podium to duel again. This time against the “Wrestlers” category. An inherited category by Julie Ann.
Another One Down!
She’s won the $20,000 twice, Lowe reminded Corey. And just like that, Corey took Julie Ann out in 45 seconds because she really didn’t know her wrestlers. There was one more Duel left. Rob Lowe tempted him to take on Kara and win the $20,000 along with the Time Boost. But, Corey had a strategy that he was NOT willing to share.
Corey went for Carnival Food held by Ronald Griffith. And, Kara who remained to own the biggest portion of the floor and going unchallenged, won the $20,000 for the night. Corey said there are some categories that he’s going to crush before coming for ones like Star Wars that he really knows! If Corey wins his third Duel, he’ll win a Time Boost.
Corey proved he knew his Carnival foods better than Ronald when he beat him in the duel and won the Time Boost. At the end of the episode, there are only 59 players left and Corey will decide if he will stay at the podium for another duel or go back to the floor!
“The Floor” airs every Wednesday at 9 pm PT after “The Masked Singer” on FOX.
