March 25, 2025Swooping-in to Take it All on THE FLOOR Season 3 Episode 9 Recap
Last week, “The Floor” had a challenger in Shane who took-over Brain’s lead…finally! Before that, it was looking like Brain wasn’t going to get any serious opponents and was well on his way to win it all in the very end.
At the top of this week’s episode, Shane had to choose who he would challenge next. Shane went for Devin who had the “Road Trip” category. Devin won the duel and the large, 23 piece of the floor from Shane! Devin inherited the category of “Nerdy Characters.”
The next duel was between Devin and Eric over Travel Accessories and it was such a close battle that took Devin out and quickly put Eric in the lead with the biggest piece of the floor. Eric challenged the “Changemakers” category next held by Mary-Ellen. Eric won again, then challenged Slim in the category of “Medicine” next. If he won this one, it would be his third win and guarantee him a Time Boost.
Don’t Count on the Time Boost!
Eric took down Slim and was now at 27 pieces of the floor with a Time Boost. He went back to the floor. The next duel was Kevin vs. Andrew in the category of “Puppets.” Andrew, who had inherited this category proved that even though he and Kevin studied it together, knew the category better and won the duel. He inherited “Endangered Species.”
Marcus was chosen next and went big by going for the largest piece of the floor held by Eric with the “Nerdy Characters” category. Eric used his Time Boost in this duel then proceeded to self-sabotage when he didn’t realize it was his turn, almost costing him the duel. Luckily, the opponent didn’t know the last three answers. Thus, Eric won and inherited the category of “Critters.”
Brian Gained More Pieces of the Floor!
Anthony with “Haunted Locations” was chosen next by the Randomizer. He challenged the “Aviation” category held by Brian. It was Anthony’s intention to send Brian home. It didn’t go as planned and Anthony lost the duel, allowing Brian to gain 15 pieces of floor with the newly inherited category of “Haunted Places.”

The Randomizer chose Kaylie who challenged the “Critters” category held by Eric who freshly inherited that category. Kaylie lost to Eric, which meant he had won his fifth duel and inherited the “Billionaires” category. With one more duel left, Eric pressed his luck to get the $20,000 by going back to the floor. And….wouldn’t you know, the Randomizer chose Kathy who’s only option was the “Billionaires” category held by Eric! Thus, forcing him to go back up to the podium to duel again.
Taking Down the New Whale!
This duel was over 30 pieces of the floor and the $20,000 win of the night. Before the duel, Kathy had shared with Rob Lowe that she had his brother, Chad Lowe’s, poster in her room as a kid. OMG! Not exactly what Rob wanted to hear. Kathy literally swooped-in and took the 30 pieces of the floor for herself and the $20,000 for the night! This was a huge upset! But, some would call it a “flaw” in the game. Others can call it the way the game is designed and meant to be played.
NEXT WEEK: Kathy attempts to strike again, and Brian actually gets stumped in a category for the first time ever!

Hailed the New Leader on THE FLOOR Season 3 Episode 8 Recap
As stated at the beginning of this week’s episode of FOX’s game show “The Floor,” Mike is a serious challenger of Brian’s, who is a contestant with a winning streak that we have not seen before on this game show with $110,00. Brian also was comfortably “sitting” (so to speak. But, really standing) on 14 pieces of the floor.
Mike is on a Roll!

THE FLOOR, Pictured: Katina vs. Mike in “Rom Coms.” / FOX
Mike, had inherited the “Rom Coms” category and was tied with Brian on also having 14 pieces of floor. He and Brian split the $20,000 in last week’s episode. Mike vowed that “in a few minutes, Brian is no longer going to be the one with the most territory…because I’m going to play.” The category that Mike chose to move forward with in challenging another duel was “Reality Shows” held by Anna. A very fitting category Mike noted.
Anna said she was on the “Amazing Race” with her Dad which is why she chose the category. Mike ended-up winning this duel by default when Anna couldn’t name the last three competition shows and kept passing on them. Mike’s next “victim” he chose to duel was the “State Quarters” category held by Robin. They had to name the place represented by the coin.
It was a close duel, and neither contestant got one wrong. This was a matter of who answered the quickest, and that was Mike who prevailed again! Mike was now equipped with the Time Boost, with more pieces of the floor than Brian. He still had his inherited category of Rom Coms. Mike decided to go back to the floor. Many other contestants now saw Mike as a threat. The Randomizer chose Katie next who challenged the “Amazon” category held by Mariana who was born and raised in the Brazilian Amazon.
Back-Stabbing!

THE FLOOR, Emily vs. Mariana. “Teenage Dramas” category/ FOX
The two contestants had to identify a landmark, item, or animal in the Amazon in this duel. Marina defended her category. She explained her strategy of keeping Toni on the floor as a shield. But, then went for her “friend” Emily after promising she’d return back to the floor to her. Marina said she feels good about defending herself against Emily’s “Teen Drama’s” category. Emily says she’s an actor, while Marina said she “binge” watches these shows.
Ironically, these two twenty-something women knew less of the “Teen Drama’s” title than some forty-something year old contestants! Mariana ended-up having to “pass” on a lot of the shows that were pictured. Mariana’s deceptive plan to take over Emily failed tremendously and she had a walk of shame off of the stage, not even saying “goodbye” to her. As a result of her win, Emily inherited the “Water Brands” category. Emily went back to the floor to defend her new category.
Self Sacrifice:
Katina was chosen by the Randomizer next. Her category is “Physics” and a Stem educator. She said “science impacts us all” and went for “the biggest piece” because whether she stays or goes, everyone will feel her impact.” Katina decided to sacrifice herself and challenged the “Rom-Coms” category held by Mike mainly because not only did he have a lot of territory, he also newly inherited the category. Mike used his Time Boost for this duel. Which meant he had 50 seconds, versus Katina’s 45 seconds to try and win the duel.
It turned out that the Time Boost was not needed because Katina did not know not one! Before leaving the podium, Katina said she left her impact because now Mike had to defend her “Physics” category. Mike indeed chose to go back to the floor to defend Physics which he was confident he would be able to. Ashley was chosen next, whose category is “Beyonce” and a proud member of the “BeyHive.” Ashley challenged the “Parades” category held by Shane.
This is a Doozy! – Rob Lowe
Ashley failed in the duel, handing the win to Shane who inherited her “Beyonce Songs” category. With only two more duels of the night left, Shane, who has a degree in mechanical engineering, challenged Mike’s new category of “Physics.” Upon Mike’s return to the podium, now without the Time Boost, host Rob Lowe exclaimed, “this is a doozy.” In the Physics duel, the players had to name a person, principle or item related to it.
After Shane blanked for a second on Albert Einstein, he regained traction and won this “Physics” duel. Mike put up a very good fight and possibly could have won had he kept his Time Boost and put it into play. Shane was hailed as “the new leader” on the floor. Shane’s intention was to go back to the floor and hope that he’d be able to take home the $20,000 with only one duel left. But, that was up to the Randomizer.
Epic Fail!
It wouldn’t be any drama if the “Randomizer” didn’t pick someone who is neighbors with Shane. That person is Jake, and of course Jake challenged Shane in the “Beyonce Songs.” This being a brand new category to Shane and not having any time to study it, there’s a good chance Jake could win. However, Jake didn’t know as many songs and Shane did.
It was an epic fail on Jake’s part. Thus, empowering Shane with a grand total of 22 pieces of the floor and $20,000! Shane said he wanted the $20,000 for his daughter, and he got it. His inherited category is “Nerdy Characters,” which he would have to defend in the next episode.
