Terry Crews Interview on WORLD’S FUNNIEST FAILS

“Brooklyn Nine-Nine”s Terry Crews has another hosting gig outside of “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire”, it’s called “World’s Funniest Fails” on FOX. This show features clips of people attempting to do things that don’t completely work out as planned!

Each week, a panel of celebrities and comedians rate the videos, and vote for an “epic fail” awarding one ultimate winner, or “fail” video – “Fail of the Week”.

Terry Crews and his family were already fans of failed videos on YouTube. So, when he was asked to host “World’s Funniest Fails”, it was a definite “yes” from him without hesitation. Crews stated, “to be part of this every week with the whole of America, I can’t turn it down.”

Audiences might recognize some of the videos that will appear on “World’s Funniest Fails”, but Crews says “you get to see it in a whole new way and with a whole new comedic bend.” There is a panel of comedians who determine and vote for the Best Fail of the Week. Some of these comedians include: Russell Peters, and new comedians like Tone Bell.

Crews said “failure is necessary. You got to fail four times at least before you get to one success, which is that fifth one”. One of the reasons Crews wanted to do the show is that “no one has failed more than Terry Crews.” He goes on to explain that there have been times when he thought he had scored a big hit movie that would put him over the top, but didn’t do anything. He also notes some of his failed auditions as well.

One thing is for sure in the case of Crews, is that all those failures got him to success. Each video on “World’s Funniest Fails” that wins at the end of the week – is it a winner or a loser? Crews said it’s certainly a winner. “You win by losing. I’m really on a mission. I have to change the perception of losing. Everyone wants to call someone else a loser. But, you don’t stay there. Everybody who has had some kind of success has failed big time.”

The name of the game, “fail” is actually about not failing at all? Crews stated that “it’s all about being able to get up, walk away and laugh about what just happened.” Every week, the show has a clip called “Happy Times”. This is videos of cute and happy things that happen. One example that Crews gave was a video where a man was told that he is going to be a grandfather. Crews called it one of the best things that he ever saw in his life.

Crews talked about his other hosting gig “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire”. When he was offered the job, show producers told him that they didn’t want a host, they just wanted him to be him. Crews said, “I probably would fail huge if I was trying to be a host because I’m not that guy.” He compares playing ‘Millionaire to playing a board game with friends.

As for “World’s Funniest Fails”, Crews said, “It’s a perfect Friday night show. You can watch it while you’re getting dressed to go out; the kids are eating pizza. They’re getting ready for the weekend and you just play the show. It’s the perfect show to start off your weekend.”

“World’s Funniest Fails” premiers Friday, January 16, 2015 at 8pm (ET/PT) on FOX.
