Country Queen coach Reba McEntire has been basking in her return as a coach this season on “The Voice.” In this week’s Blind Auditions introduction, viewers got to see a quick glimpse into the day of the life of Reba.  She went from her “Happy’s Place” set straight over to “The Voice” stage, which btw really are next to each other!

Here’s a little tidbit, while viewers are watching “The Voice,” these portions of the show have finished filming about a month ago. Reba is currently filming the second season of “Happy’s Place.”   Though the stages are next to each other, she really isn’t going from show to show.

In the third week of “The Voice” season 28 Blinds, the coaches are still hot to not only get the best artists, but the most unique artists on their teams.  The first audition of the night fit the bill perfectly.

Something in Common!

The first contestant to audition this week is Dustin Dale Gaspard from Cow Island, Louisiana.  He calls gators “swap puppies,” because they’re less aggressive than people think.  Dustin said.  More interesting than his style of music, which is a mix of Country, Cajun and Swamp music, Dustin speaks French!

Dustin got the chair turns of all of the coaches while singing and playing the harmonica and guitar at the same time. The funniest thing Niall has said all season is he told Dustin that they have similar styles of music.  Based on Dustin having brothers in Ireland, he chose Niall for his coach.

Second…Third Chance at THE VOICE:

R&B singer Karnard Thomas auditioned for “The Voice” season 17 and didn’t make it past the Blind Auditions.  He was back during the Comeback Stage where he was mentored by Bebe Rexa.  Karnard made it to the Top 25, but was eliminated.  Karnard went on to perform on cruise ships for the next six years.

Snoop was singing to the “Whip Appeal” tune by Baby Face that Karnard auditioned with for a while before turning his chair, followed by Niall.  Snoop reminded Karnard that he turned first for him.  Karnard went with “Uncle Snoop” for his coach.

Reba’s Method to Her Madness!

Shan Scott brought the upbeat rhythms from New York to “The Voice”.   Just when it was looking like no coaches were going to turn, Reba saved the day by waiting until the very end to turn her chair.  Michael Buble pointed-out that this was a strategy that Reba mastered by waiting to turn so she didn’t have to fight with other coaches.  Had Reba turned earlier, the other coaches confessed that they would have also turned.

The Pendulum Swings…

Carly Harvey, who’s “older in the game” at 39, has a music style she described as Blues, Funk and Rock fusion.  She said Blues is the root of music genres that also include: Jazz, Rock & Roll, R&B, and Soul.    Carly sang “It Hurt So Bad” for her Blind Audition.  The coaches were immediately immersed in the performance.  However, Reba and Michael waited until the end of Carly’s audition to turn.

Niall said he didn’t turn because he knew her style was over his head.  Reba said the same for her.  But, she can learn from Carly, and they’ll “have a lot of fun together.”  Something that’s never been done before on “The Voice” was when Carly pulled out a pendulum to help her decide which coach to choose.

The pendulum had a strong swing to choose Michael Buble! Carly seemed a little disappointed not to get validation from the pendulum to pick Reba though.  Snoop told Mike that he’s “been voodooed!”

Should Have Sang Opera!

Young Opera singer Colin Bracewell is in a band who wants to move away from Opera.  His brother who is special needs and his biggest fan, is Colin’s biggest inspiration. Colin sang “More Than a Woman” classic song.  None of the coaches turned.

Snoop wanted to hear more from Colin’s falsetto. Niall said he wants Colin to comeback with that tone and he’ll get a turn.  While Colin’s brother passed out some of his merch to the coaches, Colin sang some Opera.  This made Snoop very happy. So, maybe Colin should have auditioned with Opera.

Parents’ Pick!

The youngest artist to audition so far this season is Vinya Chhabra from New Jersey and she’s in a band.  She auditioned with the Alanis Morissette song “Ironic.”  Reba determined that the sound she was hearing was from a very young artist and turned.  Michael and Snoop also turned.   Michael suggested that Vinya bring her parents out to help her choose a coach.  Wel, they said Reba!  Reba was “thrilled to pieces” because young artists are like sponges who really want to learn.

Going with Her Gut!

Conrad Khalil was a one-chair-turn from Reba McEntire.  She said the other coaches are going to regret not turning and will try stealing him later on.  Reba also said she feels good about going with her gut.

In the Spotlight!

Liam Von Elbe’s music experience mostly was behind-the-scenes and his Blind Audition is to prove that he has what it takes to be on the other side. Liam’s 90s style sound got the chair turns of Niall and Snoop right away.

Snoop called Liam “the whole package” and is exactly what they need on the show.  It was Niall who won Liam over as his coach.

Snoop Swooped In!

“Midnight Train to Memphis” is the song that Lauren Anderson chose to sing for her Blind Audition because she feels the song is about her life.  She’s hoping that a chair turn will prove that she can continue on in music.  Lauren has some similarities to Janis Joplin with her sound that Snoop ultimately appreciated by turning his chair at the very end of her audition.

This Was Meant to Be!

Ava Nat is from a small town who sang “I Love You, I’m Sorry” as a dedication song to her sister who passed away at the age of 21 when Ava was just 11 years old. She got the chair turns of Reba, Snoop and Niall.  Reba did notice Ava’s strong theater sound and asked about it.  Snoop also noted the same and said she sang like she was on Broadway.

Niall compared Ava to Oliva Rodrigo and Taylor Swift.  Ava chose Niall, and amazingly, he handed her the purple colored hoodie.  Purple was her sister’s favorite color.  It was meant to be!

Hewitt Almost Did It!

Trevor Hewitt owns a pest control company that he runs with his dad with the slogan of “Hewitt can do it.”  Unfortunately, Trevor didn’t get any chair turns.  Snoop advised him to come back. Michael Buble said he deserves to be on stage and also hopes he comes back.

A Latin Powerhouse!

Teo Ramdel moved from Tijuana,Mexico to Los Angeles in 2023 and currently sings on Santa Monica Pier and in restaurants.  Teo’s purpose for being on “The Voice” is because of his mom who is struggling with some health issues.

Right out the gate, Teo killed it with his strong Spanish vocals!  He’s a Spanish powerhouse!  Buble and Snoop were definitely into his sound, and the first two to turn.  Soon followed by Niall and Reba!

Reba said she didn’t know a word that he sang, but will find that out soon!  Michael said in his house they listened to Luis Miguel over, and over.  If Teo doesn’t join his team, his wife may leave him.  Michael had it in the bag because Teo chose him for his coach!  Snoop, who tried to woo Teo by speaking to him in Spanish, was still sour afterwards.
