November 20, 2025The Second Mic Drop this season on THE VOICE 28 Knockout Round Part 3 Recap
This week “The Voice” aired the third part of season 28 Knockouts. Viewers got treated with some heavy hitters in the competition. Notably, Knockout performances from Ryan Mitchell who won Carson Daly’s “Carson Callback;” Kayleigh Clark went up against the trio DEK of Heart, both giving exceptional performances; and Marty O’Reilly held his own against Rob Cole. By the end of the night, one more artist received a “Mic Drop” from their coach!
Conrad Khalil vs. Ryan Mitchell (Team Reba/ Mega Mentor – Joe Walsh)
Konrad decided to bring a 2008 hit and bring it to 2025 with “a fresh spin on it.” Walsh advised not to get distracted with so many “embellishments” he added to the song. Ryan sang “Zombie” by the Cranberries.
Ryan wanted to showcase his range and “it’s Rock-N-Roll.” The artists had in mind the new “Mic Drop” game play added this season. Away from the artists, the coaches discussed the Mic Drop. They entertained the idea that after they choose their artists for the Mic Drop, and the viewers select their winner, this winner may also be the winner of “The Voice” this season.

Another new game play called the “Carson Callback” which Buble acknowledged after Ryan and Conrad’s Knockout that Ryan, being the first “Carson Callback” has come back and “exceeded everyone’s expectations.” Buble favored him. Snoop thought Conrad gave “a five star performance.” Reba declared the WINNER as Ryan Mitchell. She said they don’t have that much alternative Rock on the show, and wants to keep him.
Marty O’Reilly vs. Rob Cole (Team Buble / Mega Mentor – Zac Brown)
Marty chose a Joe Cocker song called “Love Letter” because he can relate from being on the road, away from home. Rob chose the song “Wondering Why” to dedicate to his wife. When it came to their Knockout performances, Marty commanded the stage more with his presence, and voice control. Snoop told him he could win “The Voice’ because he was “that good.” Along with those comments, he swore there was a “dog” in Marty. However, it was Rob Cole who won the Knockout and headed to the Playoff.
Trinity vs. Jack Austin (Team Buble / Mega Mentor – Zac Brown)
Trinity selected “I’m Your Baby Tonight” by Whitney Houston. Buble recommended Trinity to change-up the song in order for viewers to “forget about her version.” The WINNER of that Knockout was Trinity.
DEK of Hearts vs. Kayleigh (Team Niall / Mega Mentor – Joe Walsh)
Kayleigh chose the “Blue” song by Leann Rimes. She wanted to showcase her yodeling talent which this song allows. DEK of Hearts sang a song that brought them together. It was “What If I Never Get Over You” by Lady A. Their energetic performance was top notch. Kayleigh sounded like a Country legend with a perfect Knockout performance. It literally sounded like a record. Of course, Reba, Queen of Country was very pleased “Leann would be so proud.” But the harmonies of DEK of Hearts won over Reba more.

It was a tough choice for their coach Niall Horan. He ultimately chose DEK of Hearts as the WINNER. Then Niall used his “Mic Drop” for DEK of Hearts. He chose them because every time they get on stage they’re so “solid, so consistent” This is the second Mic Drop artist this season. The first one was Max Chambers from Team Michael.
