What viewers will be watching when December 16th rolls around may possibly be the worst ever “The Voice” season finale.  Why? Well, because what started out as what seemed to be an impressive season with twists and new game play that kept us on our toes, is quickly turning into a hot mess.  The show is unraveling with the first Playoffs episode that aired Monday night, December 1st.

This is Wacky!

This is when it was revealed that the coaches would be selecting one team member each, out of their four to take to the Live Shows/Finale.  This may or may not be a Mic Drop artist.  The first two teams who were up on Monday’s episode were Michael Buble’s team and Reba McEnitire’s team.  They each made their selection at the very end of the show, which happened to NOT be Mic Drop artists.

After that, six artists were left.  Host Carson Daly announced that one more artist would be moving forward after viewers vote on who that will be.  It’s not one artist per Team, it’s one artist among both teams!  Then, after Niall Horan, and Snoop Dogg make their choices in the last half of the Playoffs airing next week, December 8th, America will select one more artist.  That will produce the Top 6 artists who will be in “The Voice” finale this season.

This may be a very bittersweet moment for the Mic Drop winner, who is going to finally be revealed on the December 8th episode as well.  Mic Drop voting ended on November 28th. So, we’ve been holding our breaths since then.  It could mean for one artist that they didn’t make it to the Live Show/Finale, but they’re going to be performing in the Rose Parade! This is just wacky!  “The Voice” should have implemented a rule where the Mic Drop winner would be Safe from elimination until the Live Finale.  Hopefully this will be another surprise twist thrown in.

THE PLAYOFFS Part 1 Recap:

Reba McEntire’s “Mic Drop” artist was up first.  That is Aron Nichols who sang, “Beer Never Broke My Heart.”   Snoop told Reba, “you can’t lose with him.”  She agreed!  But, then didn’t pick him at the end?

From Team Michael, Jazz McKenzie was the first to step onto the Playoffs stage.  She blew us away during the Blinds as a “break-out diva” singing Tina Turner, “What’s Love Got to do with It.”  Jazz chose “Don’t Stop Believin” by Journey to sing in a melancholy way.

Not really a fan of this version.  But, it was good enough for Michael Buble who also blew over his Mic Drop artist contestant, Max Chambers and chose Jazz as the artist to take to the Live Shows.  Will Max be going to the finale, and also the Rose Parade?  Or, just one, or none?  That was for America to decide.
Michael said he got “goose bumps” by Jazz’s sound because she reminds him of Barbra Streisand, Celine Dion, and Aretha Franklin.

Ryan Mitchell from Team Reba intended on taking the “Undressed” song to “a whole new level” while singing it for the Playoffs.  Sticking to his Indy Rocker style, Ryan came through with this song though his voice tends to benefit him more while singing more of a grunge Rock.  Which this song was not.

Trinity from Team Michael got to express her love of Rock in this Playoffs episode by singing “Barracuda.”  She does a great job at keeping to the original.  It’s a tough song to master, and Trinity did a phenomenal job.  However, as Snoop said. he’s seen three different versions of her. Sticking to one style may have served her better.

One-Chair-Turn, Aubrey Nicole buttered Reba up real good by telling her she’s the best part about her time on “The Voice.”  Aubrey sang “Black Velvet.”  Reba told Aubrey that she was blown away by her, and she’s “the perfect package.”  So much so, that Reba chose Aubrey to take to the Live Show (which is also the Finals)!

“Comeback Superstar” Rob Cole, who was a no-chair turn in Season 25, is now in the Playoffs on Team Michael.  Rob chose Lee Ann Womack’s song “I Hope You Dance” after having a dream about it before Michael Buble called him suggesting it.

It seemed like a definite sign that this ultra talented Country artist was finally going to get his break by advancing to “The Voice” finals and having the chance to possibly win the show.  And this may still happen IF America votes for him to continue.

Snoop told Michael that Rob has star potential and he’s someone that he would make a record with.  The next artist who performed was described as a “chameleon.” That artist is Peyton Kyle.

Peyton Kyle sang “Hold Back the River” and absolutely killed it with his strong vocals.  Reba told Peyton that he has what it takes.  Snoop said he could envision cruisin’ and smoking to the sounds of Peyton on the radio.

The last artist to perform of the night was 14-year-old Max Chambers from Team Michael.  Max chose “A Change Gonna Come” by Sam Cooke.   Snoop told Michael Buble that Max “could be the winner of ‘The Voice.’  So, the four coaches huddled together to help each other choose their ONE, yes, ONE artist to take to the live finale show.

The Moment of Truth:

Buble was noticeably choked-up, telling his artist “this isn’t the end guys.  This is the beginning.”  The artist that he went with was Jazz McKenzie.  He said she’s got “the greatest” voice that he has on his team.

Reba told her team that she loves them with all her heart before announcing that her finalist artis is Aubrey, who was stunned, btw.  It was up to viewers to choose one more artist to advance to the Live Shows.  Those remaining artists are:  Aaron Nichols, Ryan Mitchell, and Peyton Kyle from Team Reba.  Or, Trinity, Rob Cole, and Max Chambers from Team Michael.  America had to make one decision out of these six artists, and voting was closed as of 7 am ET the next day, Tuesday.
