SPOILER ALERT! SET REPORT!
Coming off of season 18, past “America’s Got Talent” contestants will get another stab at gaining world wide recognition for their talent, a grand prize, and a spot in the AGT Las Vegas Show should they win AGT’s newest spin-off “America’s Got Talent: Fantasy League.”

All of the acts have competed on a Gots Talent show before, some coming from other countries.  On “America’s Got Talent” alone, we can think of some acts who got a raw deal in their season.  Thankfully, those acts are back too!  Hollywood Junket got a sneak-peek during our set visit.

Some of the best acts we saw from the most recent AGT seasons include: Ana DeGuzman, Kristy Sellars, Travis Japan, Brian Justin Crum, Chapel Hart, and many more.  Self-taught aerialist who won “AGT: All-Stars” and is currently performing in the AGT Las Vegas is back on Fantasy League too.

Maybe it’s self-promotion for their Vegas show, other acts who are also part of the Las Vegas show, are back to compete on Fantasy League.  They include: Kodi Lee, Sofie Dossi, and Preacher Lawson.

Similar to another NBC competition reality game show’s sporty format, “The Voice”, the AGT judges are competing via acts that they have placed onto their Teams.   That means, Simon Cowell, Heidi Klum, Howie Mandel, and returning after a long hiatus, Mel B. are competing against each other.  The judges also get to mentor their acts.  Simon stated that it’s very different mentoring because “you form a bond.”

By the time the first show started taping and the judges were seated in front of the audience, they had already made their selections of which acts they wanted on their Teams.  They spoke about how some of them didn’t get the acts that they wanted due to another judge snagging that act first.  It isn’t clear if this portion of the show will be shown to at-home viewers because it wasn’t something that was filmed in front of the audience.

Similar to previous AGT spin-offs, the studio audience votes for their favorite act of the night.  The judges make their own selection.  A Golden Buzzer gets an act stolen off of their current Team and onto the judge’s team that pushed that buzzer.  It also gets the act into the Finals.

At one point, Howie Mandel was so frustrated by the voting results he sulked and said his “dream team turned into a nightmare.”

Comedian Preacher Lawson is on Howie’s Team.  Simon Cowell said he wished that he was mentoring Preacher.  Howie was offended and responded he’s sure there are comedians saying they wish Simon was telling them what to do!   Mel B. said she knows what Simon was trying to say.

After Preacher Lawson performed, Heidi commented that she thought his previous set was a little better.  After the super talented act called Ghetto Kids performed, Mel B., who had control of the Golden Buzzer that night, was getting a lot of verbal pressure from the studio audience to press her Golden Buzzer for them.

“America’s Got Talent” fans are in for a very special treat on Fantasy League because not only is Kodi Lee back (and on Simon’s team), he sings two of his original songs.  And, wow, are they fantastic!  During one of his performances, he dedicated the song to his mother.  Simon got emotional.  He said that was ALL Kodi Lee, including the arrangement.

Heidi’s reaction to Kodi Lee’s performance was that she has been preferring his original music and it’s much better than any of his other songs.  Another surprise came when one of the judges hit their Buzzer to Steal Kodi Lee away from Simon!!  Tina, Kodi’s mom, said she didn’t want to leave Simon because he’s always been someone they’ve looked up to.  Simon said he will still be there for Kodi.

Another unwanted Steal included someone on Heidi’s team.  Heidi mentioned that one of her Team members said they didn’t want to go on to Team Howie! Lol.  Pact Drumline , who’s on Simon’s Dream Team, Mel B. said she was kicking herself for not having the Golden Buzzer to use to Steal them away from him!

“America’s Got Talent: Fantasy League” premieres January 1, 2024 on NBC.
