The last Golden Buzzer of the season was in play during “America’s Got Talent” season 17 week 5 of the auditions.  That last buzzer was Heidi Klum’s and she used it on a young singer.  Someone,  she said, she wouldn’t use her Golden Buzzer on.  However, Heidi had a change of heart and told the young woman “I think you’re really special.”  Before pressing her buzzer, Heidi said there were a lot of singers this season and she didn’t plan on using her Golden Buzzer on a singer.

This week’s episode had a lot of magicians and comedians.  All original acts. Some good, some not so much.  One contestant came onto the stage claiming to be a musician.  His act consisted of him popping balloons.  A few comedians used costumes to help make their acts funny.

The fact that the show went through all Golden Buzzer’s so fast, makes us wonder if there will be one more surprise Golden Buzzer added.  Much like what happened last season when Simon created a new version of the Golden Buzzer when all three judges and host Terry Crews pushed the Golden Buzzer together for Opera singer Victory Brinker.

NICOLAS RIBS and Emma (Magician)

Nicolas was at AGT with his daughter who served as his interpreter. They are from France.  Nicolas performed magic on top of a light box with images.  The images, some being cards, transformed into actual objects.

“It’s such a different way of presenting magic,”said Heidi.  Howie said he did “beyond well” and “I’ve never seen magic better. I’ve never seen magic more unique.”  Nicolas was reacting with “nervous laughing” the whole time he was on stage.  Simon said what he likes about Nicolas is that what he did “was very unique” and he’s never seen anything like that before.

KEEGAN  (Standup Comedian)

Keegan is 39-years-old from Chicago.  He’s done standup for 10 years and said he has “something unique to show.”  Upon his first joke, Simon used his “X,” followed by Sofia.  All of Keegan’s jokes were related to bicycles as he was dressed like a cyclist.  Quickly, his act was over after the rest of the judges gave him their “X’s.”

MR PANTS (Standup Comedian)

Pictured: Mr. Pants — Photo by: Trae Patton/NBC

Mister Pants showed-up wearing a large pair of pants as a costume.  He’s from Brooklyn, New York and explained that he used to go to the office everyday before the pandemic.  He wouldn’t give out his real name when Simon asked him.  All of his jokes were related to pants.  But, his jokes were better than the bicyclist’s.  He said “I never became a lawyer, but was involved in a suit.”  Howie was cracking-up at all of his jokes.

Simon said that Howie was giving the “loudest laugh.”  Howie joked that he “didn’t slack off.”  Heidi said “I can’t wait for you to come back so you can really let your pants down.”  Simon reacted, “I thought you were really annoying.  But, it was silly-funny.  I like silly-funny.”  Mister Pants got all four “yes” votes.

MIA MORRIS (Singer)

Pictured: Mia Morris — Photo by: Trae Patton/NBC

Mia is 17 years old, a Junior in high school from Nashville, Tennessee.  She’s a songwriter and a multi-instrumentalist.  She was there to play as a one-woman band.  She did this by “looping.”  She loops different sounds which “hopefully all come together.

In fact, everything did really come together for Mia beautifully!  She gave a stellar performance using vocals, drums, and guitar.  Howie reacted “I think you’re a star. Looping is so cool.” Heidi thought it was “a lot of fun.”  Sofia said Mia is one of the coolest girls to stand on the stage.  Simon reacted that at times it was a bit of a mess.  But, it should be because it was all done at the moment. It wasn’t perfect.  But, that’s why he liked it.  “This year, it’s all about originality.”  Simon also called it “genius” as he gave her, her fourth “yes” vote.

WILLIAM ROYCE (Musician)

William is a musician who’s been playing since he was 10-years-old.  He’s now 25-years-old.  His “music” consisted of him popping balloons.  Simon asked, “did you not have birthday parties when you were a child?”  After William got buzzed, he was bleeding from his head.  Howie stated that they have danger acts all the time, and none of them came off the stage bleeding.

CHIKO (Balance Act)

Next was “a very dangerous balancing act” is what Sofia translated from the next contestant from Cuba.  He built stilts that went above the “America’s Got Talent” sign on stage.  Once he reached the very top, he placed knives in the middle area between the stiles, as he balanced himself upside down.

He revealed that it was the 7th time he’s done this stunt in his life.  Heidi said it left her wanting more and wanting to see more.  Simon said he loved both of them (referring to Chiko’s assistant).  Chiko got four “yes” votes.

CONNOR JOHNSON (Singer)

Conner is 23-years-old from Hawaii.  He’s a street performer and surfer.  His mom is a nurse and is in the military.  Connor sang while playing the guitar.  Simon stopped him after Conner had started performing and stated that “it was a little bit boring.”  He asked Conner to sing his second song.  His second song was better, and the audience agreed as they screamed and cheered.  Then gave Conner a standing ovation.

Simon joked, “do you have a third song?”  Sofia said when Simon asked for a second song, “he’s right.  This one was so much better.  Your voice is beautiful.”  Heidi agreed that he has a beautiful voice”  And he’s also “easy on the eyes.”  Howie predicted that Connor will be able to perform in a building like this every night.   Simon said “good for you.”  When he stopped him, Connor just took a beat.  He got all “yes” votes.

MPLUSPLUS (Light Show)

Pictured: MPLUSPLUS — Photo by: Trae Patton/NBC

MPlusPlus are from Japan.  They are a group of engineers and performers and have prepared for 12 years.  When Simon asked if they think they could win, they answered “of course.”  They invented a ribbon with a LED light.  Something that hasn’t been done before.  As a team, it is their first show and they are nervous about Simon.

Simon reacted that they are very original.  Sofia said it was mesmerizing. She was in a trance.  Heidi said “I forgot where I was for a minute.  Your dancing is on point.  It was a real treat.” Howie said “wow, you did it in the dark.  It became a light show.  I loved it.”  Simon reacted, “it’s acts like you that’s going to make this competition fascinating this year.  Because we’re seeing things we’ve never seen.”  They got all four “yes” votes.

DREMEKA CHOIR (Singing Group)

Peer, the leader of the group, said they would use the $1 million so that they could do their choir full time.  They explained that the word “Dremeka” is an ancient word that means “dream machine.”  Peer said “we’re here to make you dream.”   When they started singing, it sounded like ghouls and evil spirits.  Everyone was very surprised.   Then, they sang “Toxic” by Britney Spears. They actually got a standing ovation from the audience.

Sofia said this is another unexpected thing of the day.  Simon said they’re like demos in a choir.  “It was so fantastically creepy.  I occasionally like going over to the dark side.  So, I get it.”  Sofia thought it was “very spectacular and creative.”   Heidi said “I didn’t particularly love it.”  They said they’re the only metal choir in existence. Howie said he’s glad that they’re opening their eyes in America.  Heidi voted “no.”  Howie said “the queen of Halloween gave you a ‘no.’ Howie gave them their third “yes,” which allowed them to move on to the next round.

LILY MEOLA (Singer Songwriter)

Pictured: Lily Meola — Photo by: Trae Patton/NBC

Lily is 27-years-old.  She performed an original song called “day dream.”  She explained that it evolved over the last few years.  Lily wrote the song when she had a record deal, and it was “magical.”  She was living her dream.  Then her life “flipped upside down.”  When her mom got cancer, she spent time with her mother to take care of her.  She lost her record deal.  Her mom passed away.  Simon asked her if she’s okay to do this audition.  Lilly said singing is something her and her mother really connected with and it’s why she started singing. “I’m just trying to make her proud and continue to live my daydream.”

Howie said he could feel the emotion.  “This moment right now you are that butterfly on the way.”  Sofia reacted “I think your mother was watching you tonight” and she really enjoyed the song.  Simon asked Lily that she didn’t test the waters when she had a record deal?  Didn’t put anything out?  She answered “no.”  He said the fact that she’s come back after what  she’s been through says a lot about her.  Heidi said she was speechless.  “Everything about you, you just light up.”  Heidi said she can’t help it, she really felt strongly about Lily and gave her the Golden Buzzer.  Heidi told her “I think you’re going to knock it out of the park.  I think you’re really special.”

JORDAN CONLEY (Comedian)

Jordan is 29-years-old from Garden Grove, California.  He’s a standup comedian.  Jordan has been doing stand-up for seven years, he said along with working in the fast food industry.  He said his dream is all based off of Kevin Hart who performed in a football stadium.  Heidi called Jordan “spectacular.”  Simon said “you are just naturally funny because you are super talented.”  He added that it was a really good audition.  Heidi said he’s really fast, but she was following him. She said she does the same thing with her kids (referring to how Jordan’s mom yelled at him).  Howie said the thing that makes him a star is that there is no separation from what they do. “This is not an act.”  Howie said people are going to say ‘I love Jordan Conley.’   Jordan got four “yes” votes.

MERISSA BEDDOWS (Opera Singer/ Impressionist)

Merissa is 23-years-old.  A student at the Curtis School of Music.  She was inspired by past opera singer contestant Jackie Evancho.  Merissa started singing Opera at 12-years-old.

Merissa gave Heidi a large die with different names typed on it.  She asked Heidi to give her a name after she started singing “Somewhere Over the Rainbow.”  She switched to Ariana Grande.  Then Yul Brenner,  Stevie Nicks, Celine Dion, Snow White, Siri.  The judges and audience gave Merissa a standing ovation.  Howie said she’s a really good singer and a great impressionist.  She did an amazing job.  Heidi said it’s a different way of doing impersonations.  Sofia thought the whole act was perfect and “nailed every single voice.”  Simon said he’d lose the cube because it slowed-down the performance.  But, there’s a giant gap in the market and her act is “right on the money.”

SIEGFRIED & JOY (Magicians / Comedians)

Pictured: Siegfried and Joy — Photo by: Trae Patton/NBC

Siegfried and Joy are from Berlin, Germany.  They flew-in just to do the show.   They are full time magicians and they “want to share the magic with everyone.”  Their act was more of a comedy act than a magic act as they humorously revealed the secrets to their tricks.  They even brought in Jordan Conley into their act briefly when he was retrieved from behind a metallic cloth.

Heidi reacted that there’s moments like this when you’re really proud to be German.  They brought Heidi a gift, it was a keychain.  Howie loved it.  “This is the year on our show where comedy is becoming king.”  Siegfried reacted “we’re magicians.”  Sofia said she wants to be part of their act one day.  Simon reacted that he was “slightly confused” because he didn’t get it and found them to be “annoying.”  He said “I thought it was all a bit stupid,” when it was time to vote.  They got their third “yes” vote from Sofia which allowed them to go to the next round.
