CBS announced earlier this week that the network will be introducing their own take on a singing competition show that will have singers from their own home towns representing that they are the most talented singers. According to one of our sources, the show will be taking the YouTubers with the highest views and pitting them against each other. There has been no confirmation on this rumor yet from the network.

If it is indeed the case, this interesting twist will bring the virtual internet world into the real one where how many views videos of contestants get matter. It is a well known fact the singing super-star Justin Bieber made his success out of a popular YouTube video that garnered attention from legendary R & B icon Usher whose record label produced an album with him as one of the featured artists, making Bieber a household name.

“The Star Next Door” will also make-over the contestants to give them a new look, ultimately branding them as a star. Professional singers who will mentor these new-comers to show business will be “The Celebrity Apprentice” season 4 winner John Rich, Queen Latifah and Gloria Estefan.

The show will be competiting against a slew of other singing competition shows: NBC’s “The Voice”, and “The Sing Off”, FOX’s “American Idol”, and “The X Factor”, and ABC’s “Duets” which will premiere this summer.
