Have Mercy on Us! THE VOICE Season 15 Battles Sneak-Peek!

SPOILER ALERT!!

Hollywood Junket got a sneak-peek at “The Voice” season 15 Battle Round during a taping. Keep reading below for a preview of several of the Battles we witnessed.

New this season on “The Voice” is the Comeback Battle Stage where six contestants will Battle to comeback onto the show after being eliminated. This round is curated by Country artist Kelsea Ballerini.

Carson Daly asked the coaches how is it going into the Battles. Blake answered that he hates it. He said “I beg these people to be on my team. Then I kick half of them off” during the Battle round. He said this is why he drinks on the show. Blake joked to Jennifer and Kelly on which one of them will cry first. Daly said he’s never seen Jennifer Hudson cry.

Kelly said it’s hard for her not to cry because she gets so emotional. Daly asked Adam who has the best team this season. Adam stated that he has the best team.

At the start of the Battles each coach had 12 artists. They can still STEAL from each other. But, there are NO Saves in this round.

From what we saw and HEARD, Team Kelly by far had the best artists of the day.

TEAM JHUD

KENNEDY vs. LELA

Kennedy is 13 years old, and Lela is 15 years old from Miami. They started their Battle (oddly) with choreographed dance moves. Both Blake and Adam commented that the Battle was an even playing field. Blake thought that Kennedy’s vocals were stronger. Adam said the song that they were given didn’t allow them to “get there” for him vocally.

Winner: Kennedy

TEAM ADAM

JAKE WELLS vs. NATALIE
Updated: Oct. 22, 2018
Jake and Natalie sang “Closing Time” by Semisonic. Jake was a one chair turn in his Blind Audition. Natalie, who has a Country vibe, sang “Barracuda” song in her blind audition and she’s from Oklahoma. Blake went with her, he said, to be “loyal.” Overall, the coaches were impressed with how much Jake’s voice had changed since his Blind Audition. Blake said he voice is phenomenal and it “fills the room.” Jennifer said Natalie’s voice is powerful, yet soft.

Adam said he chose the person he could do the most with in the future and that was Jake.

Winner: Jake Wells

TEAM KELLY

CODY RAY vs. SANDY REDD

This was the best Battle of that tape day. They brought the house down! At the end, they got a standing ovation from the coaches. Adam said he was excited to Steal whoever lost. He then, reminded himself that he had to ham it up for the show producers and remain neutral. Blake said he thought Sandy won the Battle and she has one of the best voices he’s ever heard. Meantime, Sandy was in tears on the stage. She was a four-chair-turn during her Blind Audition. Then, after Kelly picked Cody as the winner, she was a three-chair-turn for the Steal.

Blake made it a point to tell her how he was the only one who said he thought she won the Battle. Adam counter argued that he hit his button right away in both the Blinds and for the Steal. Sandy went with Team JHud who’s also from Chicago. She said she’s going to take it back home.

WINNER: Cody
STEAL – JHud for SandyRedd

TYSHAWN COLQUITT vs. ZAXAI
Updated: Oct. 22, 2018
Blake said it was an evan match. The two men did sound very similar. However, Tyshawn seemed to display more range. Kelly said she tried to pick Zaxai during the Blinds, but was BLOCKED by Jennifer. In Kelly critique she stated that Jennifer could “make it right.” For decision time, Jennifer mentioned that there was some pitchiness. But, chalked it up to nerves. The decision was excruiating for Jennifer and said she couldn’t look at them. Kelly could relate and told Jennifer to look at her. Jennifer picked Tyshawn as the winner. Thus, making Zaxai available to Kelly.

After that Kelly stole Zaxai. Jennifer and her hinted to what just happened. Jennifer purposely selected Tyshawn in order for Zaxai to stay in the competition, only on Kelly’s team. Blake and Adam were both perplexed and didn’t get what happened.

WINNER: Tyshawn
STEAL – Zaxai (Team Kelly)

TEAM BLAKE

KAMERON vs. KAYLEY

Kameron is twenty-one years old. After their Battle, Jennifer stated that she was impressed by Kameron’s confidence by not following Kayley up with over the top vocals. He sort of fell behind her, and didn’t really take a solos piece in the Battle. Kameron never made the effort to jump out on his own in the Battle. Kelly compared Kayley to Lee Ann Womack. Adam thought Kameron won the Battle and told him he’d Steal him if he becomes available.

WINNER: Kameron

TEAM KELLY

KYMBERLI vs. ONEUP
Updated: 10/16/2018

The Voice 15 Battles, Kymberi, Oneup

Pictured (l-r): Kymberli, Adam, Jerome – Oneup

The second best Battle of this tape show came from Team Kelly again. They sang “Mercy” by Shawn Mendes. All we can say is no one has ever heard Shawn Mendes like this before!!

Kymberli faced-off against Oneup, a duo who consisted of two artists named Adam and Jerome. Blake said it sounded like there were like thirty people on stage. This was the first Battle of the day that was good enough for Jennifer to throw something at them. It was a book that she threw at the stage. She said she loved the part when they were up there and a “choir” formed around them. Not really. But this is how it felt. She said she then layed back. Kelly said she layed down in the rehearsal. Kymberli auditioned with a Whitney Houston song and Oneup auditioned with a Motown song. Kelly told them that they are on a “path”. Basically, having that kind of talent is special and a divine thing. During the Blinds, Kelly BLOCKED Jennifer from Kymberli.

WINNER: Kymberli

“The Voice” airs Mondays and Tuesdays at 8pm PT on NBC.
